Power relations between men and women must change profoundly, men must be partners in the pursuit of gender equality, in their decision-making roles, as heads of state, CEOs, religious and cultural leaders, and as partners and parents.

Patriarchy is bestowed on men at birth. Whether you want it or not, you have a privilege as a man, and you either fight against it and reject it by becoming a feminist man, or you enjoy the privileges that come with it.

We also have to match the skills with the needs of the economy... I think we are losing the plot because we are continuing to produce the people that are not going to be the drivers of industrialisation. So that needs the discipline of both training institutions and policies that drive our people to industrialisation.

Achieving gender equality is about disrupting the status quo - not negotiating it.

I do not believe that the majority of men in the world would like to hurt women, but they can be very complacent, and that is just as bad.

My mother always told me that inaction is not an option. And neither is going it alone.
