The point is that the reader's journey through our site is a narrative experience. Our job is to make the narrative satisfying.

Living sites are only as good as today's update. If the words are dull, nobody will read them, and nobody will come back. If the words are wrong, people will be misled, disappointed, infuriated. If the words aren't there, people will shake their heads and lament your untimely demise.

Hypertext, as Nelson [Ted Nelson] originally wrote, is interlinked reading and writing. Links make hypertext.

Hypertext is an idea. The Internet is a medium. They grow up beside each other, they influence each other, and their evolving relationship will probably provide a great story for future biographers.

Imitating paper isn't the goal the goal is surpassing paper.
